The Silk Road, The Laz and The Nectar of the Gods

A long time ago, in the ancient lands of the East, lived a tribe called the Laz. They were the guardians of a secret: Elvish Honey.

The True Story of the Golden Fleece

Many people believe the "Golden Fleece" was a coat made of real gold. But the Laz people know the truth. It was actually a Golden Healing Vest made from a special honey. This liquid gold could heal any pain in the body or the soul.

History says King David took the "gold" from the Laz King, but he didn't take metal. He took the incredible Elvish Honey.

The Summer Silk Road

When the summers became too hot in Mesopotamia (the South), the Laz tribe traveled north to the Colchis Empire. They followed the Summer Silk Road through the mountains.

They traded two precious things:

  • Honey: The nectar of the gods.
  • Lapis Lazuli: A beautiful blue stone.

The port city of Lazkiye (which means "Port of the Laz") was the center of this trade. From the Pharaohs of Egypt to the kings of old, everyone wanted this honey.

The Golden Horn

The honey was carried to the Golden Horn in Istanbul. This place was famous for its sunsets, which made the water look like melted gold. It was a busy harbor where more gold was traded than anywhere else. This beauty even inspired the name of the Golden Gate Bridge in America!

From History to Today

The world changed over 4,000 years. The Roman Empire fell, the Ottoman Empire rose, and today it is modern Türkiye. But through all these years, the Laz tribe stayed. They continued to protect the bees: the hardest working creatures on Earth.
